Urwerk 103T Red Gold and Gray Gold Tarantula

The new 103T or Tarantula was shown for Baselworld replica Urwerk. Today, Urwerk launched this red gold and gray gold style.

In April, I published an article on the new Urwerk 103T tarantula on my blog, so I won’t go into the details. The previous two models are stainless steel and platinum. Stainless steel treated with AlTiN (aluminum, titanium, nitride) has a matt black color. The platinum version is polished to give the watch a shiny and unique appearance.

Urwerk presents 103T in two different metals, red gold and grey gold. If you want to read more about the specifications, you can read it here. Now, I will show you new styles of red gold and gray gold. The red gold version looks great, but since I prefer white metal, it’s no surprise that I like the gray gold version🙂

Pure gold is a very soft metal (24 carats is pure gold). Gold is the most malleable (hammerable) and malleable (can be made into wire) metal. To make it harder (and cheaper), it is usually alloyed, which means mixing with other metals.

Gold and red gold are well-known alloys, but gray gold is new, at least to me. Gold is mixed with 50/50 copper and silver alloys. Now I hear you thinking... If it's 50/50 copper and silver, where is the gold? Remember, pure gold is 24Kt. So 18Kt gold is only 75% gold. The other 25% is a mixture of copper and silver. Grey gold is mixed with 15-20% iron. This means that the gray gold is always around 20Kt.

Like the black version, both red gold and gray gold versions are issued in limited editions.

The last URWERK UR-103 – UR-103 Phoenix

At the end of 2010, URWERK ceased production of the landmark timepiece UR-103. Especially in Only Watch 2011, UR-103 is reborn from the ashes with the unique UR-103 Phoenix.swiss cheap watches

URWERK's UR-103 shocked watch lovers, collectors and enthusiasts when it was released in 2003. Its design and the way it displays the time is not completely unique, but the whole package is! However, the combination of URWERK's technological innovation and a very unusual case that has never been seen before has left a lasting impression in the history of watchmaking.
