Urwerk Watch 110 collection UR-110
Torpedo Time: URWERK UR-110
Twin turbos, 'oil change' indicator... URWERK's description of its latest creation sounds like it should be driven, not worn on the wrist. The UR-110 continues the trend of Swiss horological innovators producing alternative displays - the time is shown by three rotating "torpedoes" mounted on planetary gears that pass down a vertical line, marked 0 to 60 minutes, on the One side. Sound complicated? It's actually a very easy-to-read layout, and since the time can be read just by looking to the right, you can discreetly sneak admiring your titanium masterpiece without disturbing those pesky dinner guests.
“The beauty of the UR-110 is its unmistakable simplicity,” said Felix Baumgartner, Founding Partner and Chief Watchmaker at URWERK. “The development of the UR-110 mobilized our entire team for almost two years. One of the challenges posed by this complication was to work out the best architecture to support the central dial and rotating hour module. We finally settled on a technical solution , the technical solution is fundamentally different from any of our other creations: the fixed axis is not a ball bearing, but runs through the entire height of the watch, providing maximum stiffness and minimum play. The entire complication is perfectly balanced on this axis. "
