Grand Seiko Heritage Collection Isetan Shinjuku 2023 SBGA495
Grand Seiko SBGA415 "Winter"
The Four Seasons - "Winter"
I've been following Grand Seiko for a while, and they've grown in popularity over the past two years, prompting me to learn more about the brand and its products. Like most people, I was drawn to their dials first, and snowflake dials often give me pause. But at the time I was mostly looking for dive and sports watches and couldn't really relate to their divers when I tried them on. But after satisfying all my sports high quality fake watches cravings, I went back to Grand Seiko for something a little different.
I knew I had to have one of their special dial textures, but I didn't want something dressy either. Given my obsession with blue, Skyflake was my initial eye, but it's more dressy than I'd like. Next, the Four Seasons caught my eye because of their stunning dials, sporty and angular case designs, and their US-market exclusivity.
It comes down to spring and winter as I find the dials more attractive and I also like titanium watches. Spring is the most popular of the two and has quite a fan club. "Winter" gets less attention, has a softer aesthetic, and is actually quite aptly named. The demand for these models seems to have increased a lot when I was deciding what I wanted.
I measured a case diameter of 40.5mm (from 4 o'clock to 10 o'clock), a lug-to-lug distance of 46mm (but 49.5mm between end links), and a height of 12.75 mm. The case is made entirely of titanium and has a slightly gray color, which I like. As you'd expect from a Grand Seiko case, this watch has beautiful Zaratsu polished elements as well as generous brushed surfaces.replica Grand Seiko Heritage watches
That said, this case design is one of the reasons I love this watch. I love the 62GS case - the angular design, the interplay of polished and brushed surfaces, and sharp transitions make it very appealing to me. While the 44GS case may be one of the more iconic Grand Seiko cases, as my watch has aged, its large polished surfaces have been marred.
The transition between the extended lugs and the case extensions near the end links is spectacular. I love the sharply sloped and polished surfaces, and the sports car-like aesthetic. The polish is exquisite, as you'd expect from a Grand Seiko.
While the pierced lugs are a welcome and practical design decision, the 21mm lug width makes finding the strap quite inconvenient. Less popular and more mainstream canvas, fabric, and rubber watch straps are nearly impossible to find in this size, although your favorite leather watch strap manufacturer will gladly provide custom orders.
You'll quickly notice that this is a two-piece shell construction, not three. There is no bezel part, the stunning boxed sapphire crystal is mounted directly in the middle case. The height of the crystal glass is about 2 mm, and the dial can be seen through the side. The rectangular boxed crystal further promotes the angular design of this best replica watches.
The dial is the reason I started looking at Grand Seiko - I've reviewed a ton of watches in the last year and it's helped me figure out what I like. Dials are very important to me, not just the design, but the quality control and attention to detail. The reality is that good design is hard to come by, but good design and good quality control are the hardest. Grand Seiko is the most detail-oriented and uncluttered brand in the category, so this purchase was my chance to find happiness. While this dial isn't perfect, it's probably the closest thing I've seen to it.
There is a sloping bezel with black graduations as minute markers, printed in black on a gray background. The print quality is very good, the minute track is the perfect width, and it doesn't call itself too much attention. The bottom of the dial has a beautiful machine-pressed pattern with a wonderful texture and a very dynamic color range. This is hard to catch and often looks gray. But depending on the type of light it's exposed to, there's a range of colors, from light silver all the way to dark gray. The finishing and quality control of this layer is perfect. replica watches for sale
You can then apply the faceted stainless steel scale and have finely cut ridges on the top face. These hour-markers are hand-polished using Zaratsu finishing techniques, using diamond-cut techniques for an exceptional finish. Quality control is good, but under macro review I did find some graininess, which I consider acceptable given the hand-done nature of these indices. This is invisible to the naked eye or even a magnifying glass. You'll need a microscope or a highly magnified macro photo to clearly identify them. But that's my obsession with dials and neatness.
The brand logo is pasted under the double hour markers at 12 o'clock and is not directly pasted on the bottom layer. It sits on little raised stands, which give you the illusion that it's floating above the dial. The finish is very nice and looks great. Below it, the brand name is printed in black with great attention to detail in the lettering. Then, there is a framed date window at 3 o'clock, with the same Zaratsu diamond-cut sides and excellent polish as the other hour markers. The window is well made with a white date wheel and black text. I'm a date window person at 6 o'clock, but the power reserve indicator will be symmetrical anyway, so it doesn't really matter.buy replica watches
The power-reserve indicator is perfectly embedded in the dial's underside, with some impressive touches. There are two textures - a simple background layer of concentric rings, and then the actual power reserve indicator, which looks almost like a guilloche pattern. You then have two polished applied elements as references for the power reserve full and empty indicators, and beautifully polished hands with closed and polished caps.
Let’s look at the hands – the hour and minute hands are typical Grand Seiko sword-like hands with a brushed top surface and highly polished angular sides. These hands look incredible and the combination of brushed and polished surfaces is stunning. I think the proportions are very good, with the hour and minute hands almost reaching their respective reference marks.
The main reason I choose the winter model over the spring one is the seconds hand. I really like the hot blue hands, and I love how the blue hands go with the gray dial. The finish of the hands is excellent, and the hands hover on the outer track for easy legibility. I do wish the top of the center stack was closed and polished like Snowflake and Skyflake, rather than exposed. Jacob & Co. Astronomia Solar
