According to a legend described by Yakov Voraginsky, St. George killed a ferocious dragon that brought fear to the city of Silena (territory of modern Libya). Interestingly, the lake-dwelling monster is more in line with the quadrupeds of Chinese mythology than the bipedal winged reptiles described in European national mythology. This can be seen as a hint of the Swiss manufacturer's positioning for the Chinese market.

On the dial, a three-dimensional dragon sculpture made of solid gold surrounds the hour and minute subdials, tourbillon and miniature globe model. The body of the mythical monster is decorated with 2,294 carefully carved scales, and the changes of light and shadow on it can be appreciated from every angle.
