Breitling PREMIER HERITAGE Series

In what is about to be an exciting week of new launches, the first release we have to cover comes from Breitling, in the form of a new Heritage collection, part of its “Premier” line of watches.

One month after the launch of the Chronomat South Sea, a modern, women-centric watch featuring a diamond bezel, lacquered dial and an aggressive marketing campaign, we launch Watches & Wonders for pre-order The watch better embodies and continues Breitling's classic aesthetics and historical significance.

Inspired by the “Premier” watches of the 1940s, Breitling has launched 3 new models, each available in stainless steel and precious metals, for a total of 6 new models.

The Premier Heritage Chronograph has a case size of 40 mm and is powered by Caliber B09 (a hand-wound version of the Breitling B01). Like all movements in the range, the B09 is COSC certified, which means it should be accurate to within -4/+6 seconds per day. Color options include a cheeky pistachio green dial in a steel case (my personal favorite of the entire launch) and a creamy white dial in an 18k red gold case - both of which work really well.

As we go through them, you'll notice that these versions have become more complex, with the new Duograph powered by the Breitling B15 movement (B03 minus the rotor), integrating a split-seconds (or rattrapante) function via a chronograph pusher and 3 O'clock operation. Clock crown. The split-seconds chronograph simultaneously measures two elapsed times (intermediate time and split time) and displays them via two overlapping hands on the central chronograph. The Duograph is available in steel (blue dial) or 18K red gold (black dial).

Finally, we have the Datora, an automatic chronograph that also displays the day, date, month, and moon phase. Likewise, the Datora is available in steel or 18K red gold, with the former featuring a pink copper dial and the latter featuring a cream dial. Like all watches in the collection, the Datora’s dial features Arabic numerals and luminous syringe-style handsets. While some will call the steel Datora a homage to the Patek Philippe 5270P-001 at 1/15 the price, many will welcome the presence of the elegant and sophisticated 5270 Salmon aesthetic that still comes from the heritage brand , but at a cheaper price point.
