Although time-date and triple-date versions have been available since the mid-1990s, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore (ROO) has always been primarily known as a chronograph. Well, things have changed, because there’s now a new ROO, the most stylish yet, featuring the new 43mm Royal Oak Offshore Automatic.

What we see here is a rare Royal Oak Offshore without a chronograph. In the current series, most models are equipped with a chronograph complication (as well as other additional functions), and only a few models have a simple time-only function. This mostly has to do with the bold, sporty Royal Oak Offshore Diver, a 42mm case, 300m water-resistant replica aaa watches. Now it's joined by another time and date model, this time much cleaner and not intended to host any additional functionality.

The new Royal Oak Offshore Automatic is the follow-up to the modern ROO watch launched in 2021, which is eye-catching mainly due to its modern Mega Tapisserie pattern. As you would expect, these 43mm versions are equipped with a chronograph movement, to be precise, the in-house integrated flyback caliber 4400 that debuted in the Code 11.59 chronograph. The new non-chronograph ROO follows the same lines as the movement that debuted in the Time and Date Code series.

At 43mm in diameter, we’re talking about a large watch here, especially since there are no bells and whistles. This new ROO time and date watch features a stainless steel case with a brushed surface and polished bevels. The bezel continues the sporty look, with a contrasting light blue color and mostly blue rubber coating (durability issue?). In addition, the hexagonal screws on the bezel, the iconic oversized barrel shape of the ROO series, and the large screw-down crown protected by side guards are all classics. This first version of the Royal Oak Offshore Automatic 43mm watch (and there are sure to be more to come) features a textured dial with a contemporary Mega Tapisserie pattern. Next-generation textures are more detailed and pronounced, bringing depth and interest. Here, it’s presented in smoky blue with rhodium-toned gold trapezoidal hour-markers and Royal Oak hands. An exclusive AP logo at noon emphasizes the already stylish look of this time and date version.

Inside the case is the in-house automatic caliber 4302, which first appeared in the Code 11.59 automatic model. Visible beneath the sapphire crystal case back, this modern movement beats at a frequency of 4 Hz and has a power reserve of up to 70 hours. Like most modern versions of this watch, the new ROO Automatic 43mm comes with an integrated rubber strap that is color-matched to the bezel and dial. Closing with a stainless steel pin buckle, it also comes with a practical interchangeable strap system and comes with an additional black rubber strap.
